CAIRO – 21 July 2017: Chelsea’s official Twitter account celebrated with the memory of signing since 13 years the Ivorian striker Didier Drogba as he transferred to Chelsea on July 20, 2004 for £24 million ($27.9 million).
The 39-year-old Drogba moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2004 from Olympique Marseille in a deal that cost the club £24 million, the legend Ivorian striker played 8 seasons at Stamford Bridge from 2004 to 2012.
Drogba left Chelsea in the summer of 2012, moving to Shanghai FC in China and then to Galatasaray FC in Turkey, before returning to Chelsea after 2 seasons to play under Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho again in 2014-2015 season.
The Ivoirian won 14 titles with Chelsea during 2 periods in the team for 9 seasons, with 4 Premier League titles, 4 FA Cup titles, 3 Capital One Cup titles, 2 Community Shield titles and a single Champions League title in season 2011-2012.
Drogba has scored 164 goals in all competitions with Chelsea in 254 games, the Ivorian striker won the Golden boot award for the top scorer in the PL twice in 2007 and 2010.
