CAIRO, 2 July 2023: The Olympic team succeeded in qualifying for the semi-finals of the U-23 African Nations Championship after defeating Gabon 2-0.
Egypt faced Gabon at Tangiers Stadium in Morocco, in final round of the group stage of the U-23 African Cup of Nations.
The Olympic team took the lead in the second group with 7 points, followed by Mali team 6 points, while Niger, which has 4 points, bid farewell to the tournament.
The Egyptian Olympic team will play in the semi-finals of the African Nations U-23 against Guinea, next Tuesday, at eight in the evening, and the victory over Guinea will guarantee qualification to the final match and the Paris Olympics 2024 at the same time.
Eight teams participated in the tournament, which divided into two groups. The first group includes: Morocco, Ghana, Guinea and the Congo, and the second group: Egypt, Mali, Gabon and Niger.
Those in the first to third positions qualify directly for the 2024 Paris Olympics, while the fourth plays with his counterpart from Asia on the fourth ticket.
