Handball: Young Pharaohs reach main round at Junior World Handball Championship

The young pharaohs defeated Saudi Arabia 42-34 on Wednesday to confirm their position in the main round of the 2023 Junior World Handball Championship. 

The Egyptians put on another solid performance to progress to the second round after having a strong start to the competition with a victory over Cuba. 

Omar El Fouly, Egypt's right back, played a crucial role in leading the Pharaohs to victory over Saudi Arabia after scoring 11 goals and he was named the best player in the game. 

Egypt will face the co-host, Greece, on Friday in the last game of the group stage to decide the top of the group as Greece also has four points from two wins. 

Greece and Germany co-host the competition between 20 June and 2 July with the participation of 32 teams. 

The Egyptian players and their coach Saber Hussein aim to follow in the steps of the Egyptian side that clinched the title in 1993 when Cairo hosted the competition.
