FIFA congratulates Al-Ahly for finishing the league undefeated

CAIRO –18 July 2017: International football federation FIFA congratulated Al-Ahly after winning the 114th game against its traditional rival Zamalek through its official Arabic-language Twitter account.

Al-Ahly finished all its matches in the 2016/2017 Egyptian Premier League season undefeated. The red team defeated its white counterpart with two free goals. Al-Ahly forward striker Walid Soliman scored the first goal, and Junior Ajayi, who is the only player to score against Zamalek in both the first and second leg games in the same season since 2004, scored the second goal of the game, which took place on Monday evening at Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

FIFA’s tweet read, "The champion lion has brought down the curtain on the Egyptian league with a 2-0 victory over Zamalek, with Walid Sulaiman and Ajayi goals to end the tournament without defeat...Congratulations to Al-Ahly club."
