CAIRO – 18 July 2017: Egypt Today decided to do a recap of all the matches between Al-Ahly SC and Zamalek SC in the month of July.
Al-Ahly won against club rivals Zamalek on July 17 at Borg Al Arab Stadium, in the last fixture of the Egyptian Premier League.
Al-Ahly previously met Zamalek a total of 10 times in July. Al-Ahly won six times, while a draw occurred on four occasions, leaving Zamalek with no wins in the month of July.
The first match between Al-Ahly and Zamalek was in 1984 and ended with a 2-2 draw. Khaled Gadallah and Alaa Maihoub scored Al-Ahly’s two goals, and Nasr Ibrahim and Kaourishi scored the two goals for Zamalek.
The second occasion was in 1997, when Al-Ahly won with a score of 3-1. Hady Khasbha scored two goals for Al Ahly, while Al Ahly striker Hossam Hassan scored one goal. Ahmed El Kaas scored Zamalek’s only goal in the game.
The third occasion was in 2000 and ended in a 0-0 draw.
The fourth match was in the final of the 2007 Egyptian Cup, when Al Ahly won the trophy after beating Zamalek 4-3. Emad Moteab, Mohamed Aboutrika and Osama Hosny (2 goals) scored for Al Ahly. Amr Zaki, Shikabala and Gamal Hamza scored for Zamalek.
The fifth match between Al-Ahly and Zamalek was in the 2008 CAF Champions League, where Al-Ahly won with a 2-1 score. Amado Flavio and Ahmed Hassan scored for Al-Ahly, and Gamal Hamza scored Zamalek’s only goal.
The sixth Egyptian Derby that occurred in July was in 2008 for the Egyptian Super Cup, when Al-Ahly won 2-0, with Mohamed Barakat and Moetaz Eno scoring the goals.
The seventh match was in the 2012 CAF Champions League group stages, where Al-Ahly won 1-0 with Mohamed Aboutrika scoring the goal.
The eighth occasion was in the 2013 CAF group stages, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw. Ahmed Gaafar scored the goal for Zamalek, while Mohamed Aboutrika scored Al-Ahly’s goal.
The ninth match occurred in the 2015 Egyptian League, when Al-Ahly won 2-0, with Momen Zakeria scoring the two goals.
The last match occurred on the 2016 Egyptian League, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
Al-Ahly scored 17 goals, and Zamalek scored 8, in their head to head matches in the month of July.
