Vitoria's era starts against Niger

CAIRO - 23 September 2022: Rui Vitoria, Egypt national team manager, will lead the team for the first time on Friday as Egypt hosts Niger in a friendly game at Alexandria stadium. 

Vitoria was appointed as the manager of the Pharaohs last July on a four-year contract, with the EFA trusting Vitoria's ability to take the Pharaohs to the 2026 World Cup. 

"We have a fantastic group of players. They are talented and experienced and I am very happy with their attitude in the camp. I am very excited to start my journey with the players." Victoria said in the pre-game press conference on Thursday. 

Egypt will play at Alexandria stadium for the first time since August 2006 when Egypt lost 2-0 to Uruguay in a friendly match. 

Vitoria added "I am very happy to be here. I don't want to make promises but I am sure Egypt will be in the World Cup in 2026."
