Egyptian Clasico: Al Ahly hosts Zamalek at 'Al Ahly We Al Salam' stadium

CAIRO, 19 June 2022: In the presence of 5 thousand fans, 'Al-Ahly We Al-Salam' Stadium will host at 08: 00 PM, Sunday, for the first time, the Egyptian Clasico between Al-Ahly and Zamalek, which was postponed from the 20th round of the Premier League.

 

 

Zamalek is currently at the top of the Egyptian league table with 44 points after playing 20 games. While Al-Ahly is ranked third in the Egyptian league standings with 40 points, but they won it from only 17 games.

 

On Time Sports will broadcast the Al-Ahly and Zamalek match in the Egyptian League, with an analytical studio before the start of the match, with the presence of Egyptian football stars.

 

Mohamed Abo Gabal, Zamalek's goalkeeper, will miss the Cairo derby against Al Ahly on Sunday night as the player has picked up an injury during the international break. 

 

The goalkeeper is suffering from a muscular injury and he will not be fit for the game. Mohamed Awwad, the team's back-up goalkeeper, will start against Al Ahly. 

 

Abo Gabal started in Egypt's opening two matches in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Guinea and Ethiopia but he did not participate in the friendly game against South Korea. 

Abo Gabal is not the only key player in Zamalek that will miss the derby as the White Knights will enter the game missing their starting full-backs, Ahmed Fattouh and Hazem Imam for injury. 

 

The return of Mohamed Abdelaghani and Hamza Mathlouthi will be a massive boost to Zamalek's defense in the game. 

 

Al Ahly's Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng is doubtful for the Cairo derby, scheduled on Sunday night in the Egyptian League at Al Ahly Stadium. 

 

The player is suffering from a muscular injury and he will have a fitness test on Saturday to determine his availability for the match. 

 

Dieng played a key role in the big victory of the Red Eagles over Zamalek in the first half of the season, having scored a brace to help his team achieve a 5-3 win. 

On the other hand, Ali Maaloul, Percy Tau and Amr El Soulia are ready for the match but Mohamed Abdelmonem is set to miss the game. 

 

Al Ahly will play their second match after the departure of Pitso Mosimane, who never lost a single derby game as Al Ahly coach and the Red Eagles hope to maintain their unbeaten streak in the derby. 

 

Al Ahly's interim manager Samy Komsan started his mission on Wednesday with a big victory over Eastern Company in the league, which gave the fans much confidence ahead of the derby.
