CAIRO, 14 June 2022: The Egyptian national team lost to its South Korean counterpart, 4-1, in a friendly match between the two teams, this evening, Tuesday, in the Korean capital, Seoul.
Egypt suffered its second defeat in a row after the 0-2 defeat against Ethiopia in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
The official line-up of the Egyptian national team against Korea was as follows:
Goalkeeper: Mohamed El-Shennawy.
Defense line: Omar Gaber, Yasser Ibrahim, Mahmoud Hamdi "Al Wensh", Omar Kamal Abdel Wahed.
Midfield: Amr Al-Soleyya, Muhannad Lashin, Ahmed Hamdi.
Forwards: Ibrahim Adel, Ahmed Refaat, Mostafa Mohamed.
Match events
The 3rd minute witnessed short passes between the Egyptian players in the middle of the field, after which Ahmed Hamdi shot from outside the penalty area in the 5th minute and the ball hit the Korean defense.
The Korean team started pressing the Pharaohs defense from the midfield in the 10th minute. This pressure led the first goal in the 17th minute after a cross from the left side, which player Hwang headed into the net against goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy.
Yasser Ibrahim intervened in the 22nd minute before the ball reached Hwang, and prevented him from being alone with the goalkeeper, to turn the ball outside the box.
The player Kim Young scored the second goal for the South Korean team in the 23rd minute, taking advantage of a corner kick that turned into the net against Egypt.
The Egyptian defender, Yasser Ibrahim, almost scored the first goal for Egypt in the 30th minute, after a direct free kick sent by Ahmed Refaat into the penalty area of Korea, Yasser Ibrahim turned it with a double back kick, but his ball passed next to the left post.
Mostafa Mohamed scored the first goal for the Egyptian team in the 38th minute after a ball sent inside the penalty area of South Korea.
The player Amr Al-Soleya fired a missile from outside the penalty area in the 44th minute, but the ball passed near the right post of the South Korean goalkeeper's goal.
Ahmed Refaat sent a wonderful cross in the 67th minute, but the Korean defense intervened and removed it from the dangerous areas before it reached the head of Mustafa Mohamed.
Ehab Galal, the coach of the Egyptian national team, decided to put the player Ahmed Sayed Zizou instead of his colleague Ahmed Refaat, who was injured, followed by the entry of Ahmed Atef instead of Mustafa Mohamed in the 80th minute.
Cho Song scored the third goal for the Korean team in the 84th minute, after a fine shot from outside the penalty area, which Mohamed El-Shennawy was unable to prevent.
Ehab Galal decided to make a substitution by entering the player Mohamed Ibrahim in the 86th minute, instead of Ahmed Hamdi.
Chang Hoon scored the fourth goal for the South Korean team in the 91st minute, after a header into the net.
