CAIRO - 19 May 2022: Al Ahly's Moroccan defender Badr Benoun trained on Thursday morning at Al Ahly's training facilities in Gezira for the first time since January as the player takes another step in his journey to return to action.
The player has been out of action since he was diagnosed with post COVID-19 complications in January after joining the Moroccan national team to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon last January.
The player missed his team's matches since January as he was rested in full after being diagnosed with heart conditions related to the virus.
The player's rehabilitation program started when he was in Morocco under the supervision of the medical staff of the Moroccan national team and he returned to Al Ahly to continue his rehabilitation program.
It is not clear yet when the player will be available to return to full training.
The Red Devils returned to training at El Tetsh after a goalless draw on Wednesday night against National Bank SC in the Egyptian League.
Al Ahly players have a busy week in front of them ahead of their trip to Morocco to play the CAF Champions League final against Wydad Casablanca.
Pitso Mosimane's boys will face Enppi on Saturday and four days later they will host Eastern Company in the league and they are hoping to improve their results in the domestic competitions in order to send a strong message to their Moroccan opponents ahead of the final.
