CAIRO –13 July 2017: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced on its website on Thursday that Al-Ahly head coach Hossam el-Badry will be fined and suspended for violating directives and guidelines related to media operations.

Badry will face a one match suspension and will be given a $ 10,000 fine. The chairman of the CAF disciplinary board concluded Badry violated CAF media guidelines in the past two games of the group stage against Wydad Athletic of Morocco which took place on June 20 at Casablanca, Morocco, and the game against Coton Sport of Cameroon which was played on July 9 at Borg Al Arab Stadium in Alexandria, Egypt.

The CAF statement said that Badry would be fined for covering a BeIN Sports microphone in the match against Wydad. “The coach participated in the press conference whilst covering the microphone of BeIN Sports to muffle the sound or pushing it away at other times.”

While at the Coton Sport game, “the coach as well as players refused to hold an interview with BeIN Sports after the match. The coach did assist in the press conference at the end of the match but the players were not there.”

Meanwhile, the one-match ban is suspended on condition that Badry is not found guilty of a similar offence until the end of the competition.
