CAIRO-26 March 2022: The Pharaohs edged Senegal 1-0 on Friday night in the first leg of the final round of the African World Cup qualifiers.

Egypt will take a small advantage in their journey to Senegal to face the Lions of Teranga on Tuesday in the second leg.

The home of football in Egypt, Cairo International Stadium, was packed with Egyptian fans cheering for Mohamed Salah and his teammates and the boys responded with a strong start as they took the lead after only three minutes.

Mohamed Salah received a beautiful pass from Amr El Soulia and controlled the ball inside the box before firing a shot that hit the bar and then rebounded to Senegal's defender, Saliou Ciss, who failed to control the ball and put it in his own net.

After the early lead, the visitors tried to push forward to score a goal but the Pharaohs stood their ground to finish the first half with a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, the two teams had the desire to score from crosses but the heroes were the defenders from both sides who were always fresh and ready to stop the brilliant attacking players in both sides.

The game ended in a 1-0 win for the Pharaohs and everything will be decided in the second leg in Senegal next Tuesday.
