CAIRO-18 February 2022: The Red Devils returned from Sudan with an important point after securing a goalless draw against Al Hilal in Matchday 2 of the CAF Champions League.
The game was played under tough weather conditions as the temperature hit 34C, which affected the performance of the players.
Al Ahly had a clear chance to win the game in the dying moments of the game as their attacking midfielder Mohamed Magdy Afsha curled the ball but his shot hit the post.
The back-to-back defending champions will face Mamelodi Sundowns at home on Saturday, 26 February, and they hope to get the three points against the South African giants to increase their chances of reaching the next round.
“It is a satisfying result for us. We came here to win and we had a chance to secure the three points with Afsha’s shot that hit the post. Al Hilal are a better side compared to last year. They have a strong squad and they are good in attack and defense. It is a difficult group with four big teams and everyone has a chance to reach the next round.” Al Ahly’s manager, Pitso Mosimane, said after the game.
