CAIRO, 6 February 2022: Gamal Allam, president of the Egyptian Football Association, explained that he filed a complaint to commute the penalty of coach Carlos Queiroz before facing Senegal in the African Nations Cup final.
Egypt will meet Senegal in the African final on Sunday, in the 2021 African Cup of Nations at the Olympic Stadium.
"We have great players and we believe that our coaching staff capable of winning the African Nations Championship," Gamal Allam said on Sada Al-Balad channel.
He added, "The beginning of the tournament, all the teams wanted to face the Egyptian team because of our low performance, but after the strong performance, everyone started to fear it."
He continued, "I said at the beginning that we will play 7 matches in the current version, we wanted to give everything we have, the Egyptian team will not give up achieving the eighth title."
And he added, "The match against Senegal is difficult, but the players are up to the responsibility and have prepared themselves and are ready for the confrontation."
Regarding the Football Association’s reaction to the decision to stop Queiroz, he replied: “We did not lose hope in appealing against the penalty that Queiroz was subjected to during the last match. ".
He continued, "We complain and we will not forsake our right, and we hope that there will be a decision in our favor, and in the event that the penalty is maintained, the alternative is ready."
And he concluded about the referee of the final match: “There are no comments on the referee of the final match, after the match we send a statement of errors because this helps the Confederation of African Football and African football.”
It is noteworthy that the South African Victor Gomez will lead the match as a referee.
