Zimbabwe captain: Salah is a role model for African players

CAIRO-30 December 2021: Zimbabwe national team captain Knowledge Musona is full of praise of Egypt national team captain Mohamed Salah ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled in Cameroon next January. 

"Salah is a role model for African players. He is a great player and he is an inspiration for young players in Africa. He is a brother for us and we are happy with his success in the Premier League." Musona told Filgoal. 

Musona had the chance to be on the same pitch with Salah when Egypt faced Zimbabwe in the opening game of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. The Pharaohs won the match 1-0 thanks to a goal from Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet. 

Zimbabwe captain added "Salah is the best African player in Europe right now. We faced eachother in 2019 AFCON and we played a good game but we lost." 

Zimbabwe national team arrived in Cameroon on Thursday to start their preparations for the competition. 

The Warriors are placed in Group B alongside Senegal, Guinea and Malawi. 

"It is a balanced group and all the four teams have a chance to reach the second round." Musona added.
