CAIRO-30 December 2021: Al Ahly announced on Thursday that their Tunisian defender Ali Maaloul has extended his contract with the club till 2024.
The decision was announced on Thursday after weeks of negotiations between the club and their player, who decided to stay with Al Ahly despite the offers that he received.
"I always wanted to stay at Al Ahly. I am so happy at the club and I want to continue my successful journey here." Maaloul told Al Ahly official website after signing his new contract.
Maaloul has been playing for Al Ahly since 2016 when he arrived from his childhood club, CS Sfaxien and since then he has been a key ingredient in the club's successes over the past six years.
Maaloul added "I want to finish my career here at Al Ahly. I could feel the affection of the fans and I want to continue my journey with the club even after retirement."
Having won four Premier League titles, two back-to-back CAF Champions League titles, two back-to-back CAF Super Cup titles, two Egyptian Cup titles in addition to a bronze medal in the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup, the Tunisian is considered one of the best foreign players in the history of the Cairo giants.
