CAIRO, 16 November 2021: Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz confirmed that the World Cup qualifiers have not yet begun, and that qualifying for the World Cup needs special preparation. Egypt has a distinguished group of players.

Queiroz had decided to exclude 5 players, and included Canaria, a player from Smouha, for fear of a second yellow card or injury for players: Ahmed Fattouh, Akram Tawfiq, Abdullah Al-Saeed, Muhammad Al-Nani, Mustafa Muhammad and Ahmed Abu Al-Fotouh.

Queiroz stressed: We have one goal that I and all Egyptians share, which is to reach the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Portuguese coach added: The World Cup for me is next March, not December, as some think. Qualification for the World Cup requires special preparation, and Egypt has a special group of players.

He continued, "My first goal is to work together in an attempt to put Egypt on the list of the best African teams so that we can compete with the teams of the world. A team ranked fifth or sixth in Africa cannot have ambitions to compete with adults."

It is expected that the national team will compete with a formation consisting of Mohamed El-Shennawy, Ayman Ashraf, Mahmoud Hamdi Al-Wensh, Ahmed Hegazy, Ahmed Fathi, Hamdi Fathi, Amr Al-Soliya, Mustafa Fathi, Magdy Afsha, Mohamed Salah and Ahmed Yasser Al-Rayyan.

The match between Egypt and Gabon in the World Cup qualifiers will be held next Tuesday at three o’clock in the afternoon in Cairo and four in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the match will be broadcast on Ontime Sport channels.
