CAIRO-5 November 2021: Mohamed El Shenawy, Al Ahly's goalkeeper and captain, joined his team's closed camp ahead of the Cairo derby despite being sidelined due to injury since the start of the season.
Many sources claimed that the player is fully recovered and he is now fit and ready to be back to action but would he start his first game this season against Zamalek?
Sayed Abdelhafiz, Al Ahly's director of football, stated after his team's 1-0 hard fought win over National Bank SC last week that El Shenawy is ready but we will see tonight if the team's head coach Pitso Mosimane will rely on him or he will stick with his back-up Ali Lotfy.
Lotfy participated in Al Ahly's first four matches this season, conceding two goals and kept two clean sheets in the first two weeks of the Egyptian League.
Also, Lofty was the one under the bar when Al Ahly defeated Zamalek 2-1 last season in the league, saving a penalty to secure his team's victory.
However, Al Ahly fans believe that having El Shenawy in such a vital match will boost their chances to win the game.
Mosimane is the only one to decide who will start tonight and for sure his decision will be much discussed after the game.
