Torres praises “amazing” Salah

CAIRO-4 November 2021: Fernando Torres, former Liverpool and Spanish national team striker, believes that Mohamed Salah is currently the best player in the world.

The Spaniard was asked if he believes that Salah is the best in the world, he said “One hundred per cent. I think not only this year, the last two or three seasons have been amazing. You’re always talking about individual trophies for players when they win trophies at the same time, but I think he has been one of the best two or three players in the world in the past five or six years. It’s amazing, the consistency.”

Torres shared the dressing room with Salah at Chelsea when the Egyptian was taking his first steps in the English Premier League.

Torres added “ We chat sometimes and I’m really happy for him because I saw him when he came to England – it was difficult at the beginning but he is a great guy and a great player and he is showing the world.”

Torres watched the victory of his former club, Liverpool, over his childhood club, Atletico Madrid, from the stands of Anfield Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Egyptian winger failed to visit the net on Wednesday but he was one of the key players for his team’s success in the Champions League this season with five goals in four appearances.
