CAIRO-28 October 2021: Sami Komsan, Al Ahly's assistant coach, said that the team put on a great display in the 4-0 win over Ismaily in their opening game of the new league season.
Al Ahly's new signing, Percy Tau, shined in his debut game with the Red Devils with two goals, forming a strong partnership with the team's playmaker, Mohamed Magdy Afsha.
“It’s very important to start off the league campaign with a win. The team preformed exceptionally well tonight. The players were well prepared for the game and they were fully focused on having a strong start.” Komsan said.
The Red Devils have achieved back to back Champions League titles but the team has received much criticism from their fans after losing the league title last season to arch-rivals Zamalek.
Komsan added “We still have a long road to go. We expect a tough competition as we will be overwhelmed with games, aside from the fact that all teams will be motivated to win.”
Al Ahly will face National Bank SC on Sunday and they hope to maintain their strong start ahead of their clash with Zamalek in the Cairo Derby on 5 November.
