CAIRO-16 October 2021: The CAF Champions League new campaign is getting underway on Saturday as Zamalek starts their journey in the new season of the competition against Kenya's Tusker.
The White Knights take on the Kenyan giants in the first leg of the first round and they hope to return from Nairobi with a good result ahead of the second leg in Cairo next week.
Zamalek's head coach Patrice Carteron will count on his hard-running attacking line of Achraf Bencharki, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Youssef Ibrahim Obama and Seifeddine Jaziri.
Tarek Hamed and Imam Ashour are the chosen duo to cover the midfield while Hamza Mathlouthi, Mahmoud Alaa, Mahmoud El Wensh and the in-form full back Ahmed Fattouh will start in the back.
Mohamed Abo Gabal has already established himself as the team's starting goalkeeper and he will be in charge to stop the Kenyan attacks.
The White Knights struggled last season in the CAF Champions League, having been eleminated from the group stage.
Zamalek failed to win the prestigious Champions League title since 2002 despite reaching the final twice in 2016 and 2020.
