CAIRO, 8 October 2021: The Egyptian national team achieved an important 1-0 victory over its Libyan counterpart in the match that took place between them today at the Burg Al Arab Stadium in the third round of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and the goal was scored by Omar Marmoush.
With this victory, Egypt topped the group with 7 points, while Libya's balance froze at 6 points in second place.
The Egyptian national team started the match with a formation that included, Mohamed El-Shennawy in goalkeeping, Ahmed Hegazy, Mahmoud El Wensh, Ahmed Fattouh, Akram Tawfik, Mohamed Elneny, Amr El-Sawlia, Mohamed Salah, Abdullah El-Saeed, Omar Marmoush and Mustafa Mohamed.
The start of the match came quietly from both sides to feel the pulse, before the Egyptian team controlled the match and Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush and Abdullah Al-Saeed succeeded in threatening the Libyan side, but without a real danger to the Libyan goal.
In the 16th minute, Abdullah Al-Saeed missed the first real opportunity to shake Libya’s net after he dodged the Libyan defenders and hit a ball, but it hit the feet of one of the defenders and went out to a corner kick for the Pharaohs.
In the 40th minute, Al-Shennawy's right post saved the Pharaohs from a real chance goal, after Libya striker Mohamed Zoabiya hit a ground shot that hit the post.
With the beginning of the second half, specifically in the 47th minute, Omar Marmoush succeeded in scoring the goal of the Egyptian team in the net against Libya with a sudden missile shot.
After the goal, Carlos Queiroz made his first changes by entering Tariq Hamed instead of Abdullah Al-Saeed, and in the 72nd minute, Mustafa Mohamed missed a goal after hitting a weak header in the hands of the Libya goalkeeper.
Queiroz also made the second change in the 75th minute, when Ramadan Sobhi came down instead of Omar Marmoush, and the Egyptian team tried to hit the Libyan net again, but without danger on the goal.
The referee blows his whistle, declaring the end of the match and Egypt winning 1-0.
