Zamalek face Barcelona in IHF Super Globe

CAIRO-6 October 2021: Zamalek are having a tough mission on Wednesday night as the White Knights take on Barcelona in their opening game of the 2021 IHF Super Globe.

Zamalek reached the competition after defeating arch-rivals Al Ahly in the African Super Cup thanks to a late goal from Yehia El Deraa.

“They are the best team in the world but we are ready for this challenge. We will do our best in the game and we will try to win.” Zamalek veteran Ahmed El Ahmar stated after winning the African Super Cup title.

The White Knights are looking forward to surprising the Catalan giants, who are participating in the competition as the champions of Europe.

Barcelona have won the Super Globe title for a record five times from six participations in the competition.  

Zamalek are participating in the competiton for the fifth time in the club’s history. Their best achievement in the competition came in 2010 when they finished third.

King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah hosts the competition between 5 and 9 October.
