Al Ahly defeats Coton Sport

CAIRO - 9 July 2017 : Al Ahly managed to qualify to the next round after beating Coton Sport 3-1 on July 8 at Borg Al Arab Stadium in the CAF Champions League group stages .

Al Ahly started the match looking for the first goal but were surprised by a counter attack in the 12th minute from Coton Sport. Al Ahly player Ahmed Fathy scored an own goal making it 1-0 for Coton Sport. Three minutes later, Al Ahly striker Amr Gamal scored an equalizer making it 1-1. Before the end of the first half on the 33rd minute Abdallah El Saeid scored a superb goal after a great assist from Moaman Zakeria, giving a 2-1 lead to Al Ahly.

The second half started with Al Ahly looking to score another goal to ensure their lead. It was not until the the 54th minute that Ali Maaloul crossed the ball to Amr Gamal who scored a header, bringing the score to 3-1 for Al Ahly. Both teams exchanged several chances but failed to score another goal.

With this score Al Ahly qualifies in second place, with Wydad Casablanca from Morroco in first place. Al Ahly will play in the quarter finals the first of Group C.
