CAIRO-3 July 2021: Barcelona handball team announced on Saturday that they have completed the signing of the Egyptian star Ali Zein from UAE’s Sharjah.

The Egyptian left back became the third signing to strengthen the Azulgrana squad after Angel Fernandez and Leo Maciel.

“He adds depth to the left side of the court both in attack and defence, and has a powerful shot that is sure to produce plenty of goals for Barça.” Barcelona statement said.

Zein is Al Ahly academy product and he emerged under the spotlight after his impressive performance in the IHF Men's Junior World Championship at home in 2009, with the Pharaohs winning the fourth place.

The Egyptian enjoyed a fantastic career abroad, playing for Etoile du Sahel in Tunisia, UAE’s Jazira and Sharjah as well as playing in the French league for Pays d'Aix Université Club.

“It has been always a dream for me to play for Barcelona and I am so excited to join the club. I hope I can help the team win the Champions League again.” Zein told the club’s official website.

Zein established his name as one of the key players in the Pharaohs’ squad, having won the African title twice in 2016 and 2020 and he is included in the team’s squad that will participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer.
