CAIRO-24 June 2021: Egypt men's handball team head coach Roberto Parrondo announced the team's squad that will travel to Spain to start their preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games. 
 
Egypt's squad for the pre-Olympics camp includes: Mohamed El Tayar, Karim Hendawy, Mohamed Ali, Omar El Wakil, Ahmed Safa, Ahmed El Ahmar, Yehia Khaled, Mohsen Ramadan, Mohamed Mamdouh Hashem, Wessam Nawar, Ibrahim El Masry, Ahmed Adel, Mohamed Sanad, Akram Yousry, Ali Zain, Hassan Walid, Yehia El Derea, Seif El Derea, Ahmed Khairy and Ahmed Hesham El Sayed. 
 
The national team will travel to Spain next Saturday and they will play two friendly games during the camp against Spain and Croatia. 
 
Parrondo's men will also have two camps in France and Germany then the coaching staff will announce the team's final squad for the Olympic Games. 
 
The Pharaohs were drawn in Group B of the Olympics alongside Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, Japan and Bahrain. 
 
The top four teams of the group will advance to the quarter-finals. 
 
Tokyo Olympic Games will be the 7th appearance for the Pharaohs. Egypt competed in the Olympics for the first time in Barcelona 1992 and their best achievement came four years later when they finished 6th in Atalanta.  
 
The Egyptian handball fans believe that the Egyptian team is now ready to secure a medal in the next Olympics after the heroic performance of the Pharaohs in 2021 World Championship, which was held at home in January. 
 
Egypt were knocked out in the quarter-finals against the eventual champions, Denmark, after a thrilling game, which was decided by penalty shootouts.
