Paris Saint-Germain's owner builds his team around Verratti - Reuters
CAIRO – 8 July 2017: Barcelona is losing hope day after day in their plan to transfer Marco Verratti to their club from Paris Saint-Germain, the French team owned by Qatar who refuse to listen to Verratti’s desire to leave the club.
“He is a prisoner of Paris Saint-Germain's Emir," Verratti's agent Donato Di Campli told Corriere dello Sport.it sports website on Friday.
Qatari businessman and CEO of Oryx Qatar Sports Investments Nasser Al-Khelaifi has owned Paris Saint-Germain since 2011 where he has been instrumental in bringing big names to the club.
Di Campli added, “Do you know what Al-Khelaifi told me... he said if he sells Verratti, he'd be risking his job and that in Doha they'd never forgive him.”
Di Campli talked about the importance of Verratti for Al-Khelaifi, saying, “Al-Khelaifi said that there is a contract to 2021 and that we can't ever sell Verratti because he is considered to be a champion and a player the team is to be built around.”
