CAIRO-29 May 2021: Zamalek continued their amazing run in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) and reached the competition’s final.
The White Knights defeated Angola’s giants Petro de Luanda 89-71 on Saturday at Kigali Arena in Rwanda.
The Egyptian side took a huge step towards winning the competition’s title after knocking out one of the strong title contenders.
Zamalek have been fantastic in the vital moments of the game and were able to outclass their Angolan opponents.
The first quarter ended in a draw but the Egyptian giants dominated the game from the second quarter which ended with Zamalek leading by 16 points.
The Angolan side’s performance improved in the second half of the game but they failed to narrow the gap in the score and lost the game 89-71.
The White Knights are waiting the winner between Union Sportive Monastirienne of Morocco and Patriots Basketball Club of Rwanda, who will face off in the second semi-final later on Saturday.
The BAL is the continent's top-tier club competition and it is a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
