CAIRO, 16 May 2021: Al-Ahly defeated their guest Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa 2-0 at Al-Ahly WE Al-Salam stadium, by going through the quarter-finals of the African Champions League first-leg.
Taher Mohamed Taher scored the first goal with a powerful shot in the first half of the match, before Salah Mohsen added a second goal in the stoppage time.
The second leg match will be held at the Sundowns Stadium next Saturday, in which it is sufficient for Al-Ahly to win, draw, or lose by one goal.
Al-Ahly maintained their record against Sundowns in Cairo, defeating it for the fifth time out of 5 confrontations between the two teams when they met on Al-Ahly land.
Sundowns could not hit Al-Ahly's nets in Cairo during those five confrontations, and their net conceded 10 goals in that period.
The match was a repeat of the confrontation between the two teams in the same round in the past two editions.
Betso Mosimane was the title of the meeting before its start, as he faces his former team, who achieved historic achievements with him for many years.
And the veteran, Dennis Onyango, goalkeeper Mamelodi Sundowns, caused the second goal after a fatal mistake on his 36th birthday, to be a bad memory for the historic goalkeeper of Uganda.
