CAIRO – 6 July 2017: Egyptian pundits reacted on July 5 via twitter regarding the VAR’s first use in the Egyptian league.

Two of the leading football pundits in Egypt, Khaled Baoumy and Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' posted on their twitter accounts their opinion on the use of the VAR in the Egyptian League after it was used in Al-Dakhliya versus Tanta match.

Baoumy posted on his twitter account saying, “I support the idea of using the VAR in Egypt, but I am not satisfied with the way it was used.”

Baoumy posted another tweet saying, “the company that sponsors the league should take the idea and do a room that screens all the cameras in the field for the VAR to see.”

Mido who is a pundit at one of the Egyptian TV sports channel and Wadi Degla coach posted on his twitter account, “using the VAR is a very important step in the Egyptian football, regardless of the cheap ways of the Egyptian FA who are not willing to pay 100,000 pounds in order not to let the people laugh at us.”

The social media made comics of how the Egyptian FA applied the VAR. They gave the referee a small television, sat him on the pitch, and gave him a microphone.

Mido followed his tweet with another one saying, “However it is a very important step to achieve justice in a larger scale between all teams.”

Essam Abdel Fattah, Head of Egyptian Referees, earlier said that the use of the VAR in the remaining matches of the league is a trial to determine whether or not it will be used in the future.
