CAIRO – 6 July 2017: On this day in 2009, the legendary winger and striker Cristiano Ronaldo joined Real Madrid coming from Manchester United in what was considered, at that time, the world’s most expensive transfer fee.

The Portuguese international had an excellent career at Manchester United winning the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, and many other trophies. At the recording breaking transfer fee of €94 million ($107 million) he went to Real Madrid with the goal of achieving similar success.

His time at Los Blancos (Real Madrid) would see him transform from a top level player into a legend. Ronaldo has had a huge impact in making Real Madrid win the Champions League three times in just four seasons. He also secured the 2017 La Liga title for Real Madrid.

Adding on to all these achievements, the 32-year-old forward helped Real Madrid win several FIFA Club World Cups.

On the national team’s level, Ronaldo managed to write his name in the history books for Portugal after winning their first ever major trophy. He won the 2016 UEFA European Championship’s for Portugal after beating the hosts France in the final.

Ronaldo has four Champions League medals, three FIFA Club World Cup medals, three Premier League Medals, two European Super Cups medals, two Spanish Super Cups medals, and one European Championship medal and several other medals.
