CAIRO – 6 July 2017: Prime Pharma, an Egyptian pharmaceutical company, announced the launching of an initiative to treat underprivileged patients in cooperation with the Ronaldinho Foundation in a press conference on Wednesday.
Tamir Wagih, the chairman of Prime Pharma, Manal Hamdy El Said, the medical consultant of the company, and Roberto de Assis Moreira, Ronaldinho’s brother and agent, revealed the details behind this cooperation and Ronaldinho’s visit to Egypt.
Wagih said in the press conference, “Prime Pharma approached Ronaldinho’s agency 3 months ago in order to arrange Ronaldinho’s visit to Egypt and plan the cooperation with the foundation which aims to treat all people around the world who are incapable of paying money to receive treatment.”
“Ronaldinho’s agency was very flexible and welcomed the idea of cooperating with us," Wagih continued, adding that Ronaldinho likes to say that just like he managed to make many people happy during his professional career as a footballer, he wants to keep helping them after retiring as well.
Wagih concluded by saying, “Prime Pharma will cooperate with Ronaldinho Foundation and provide it with all the medicine and assistance needed. Our aim is to treat as many people worldwide as possible with Egyptian-made medicine that Prime Pharma will supply Ronaldinho Foundation with. We will start an extensive tour, visiting many countries starting with Honduras."
Dr. Said elaborated on Prime Pharma’s major aim, saying, “We aim to visit many countries that lack preventive and treatment programs for widespread diseases to study the diseases and seek to provide the patients with medicine.”
Moreira then talked about Ronaldinho’s love of Egypt, his three visits to Cairo, the warm welcome he received, and how Ronaldinho is making sure the foundation actually has a great impact on people.
Moreira said, “We are very happy to be here. Egypt is one of the great countries that Ronaldinho admires. It witnessed the start of Ronaldinho’s great career when he came here at the Youth World Cup in 1997.
It marked the beginning of his fame. He came again in a short visit in 2007 to play against Al-Ahly, where he was able to win 4-0 with Barcelona. This is his third and my first visit to Egypt. I am very happy to be here and I appreciate the warm welcome I received from the Egyptian people.”
Regarding Ronaldinho Foundation’s work, he said, “God gave us good health and energy to help other people and use our popularity to start an organization that aims to help those who are incapable of paying money to get treatment.”
Finally, he concluded, “Ronaldinho is very keen on ensuring that Ronaldinho Foundation is very effective in helping a lot of people. We want to provide ill people with high-quality treatments at no cost.”
Prime Pharma also managed to start a partnership with Leo Messi earlier this year aiming to treat patients who are suffering from hepatitis C.
