CAIRO-7 May 2021: Zamalek coach Patrice Carteron believes that the team captain Mahmoud Shikababla has been showing a fantastic performance for the team during the previous games.
Carteron praised his play-maker after he started the game against Smouha and helped the White Knights achieve an important 2-1 win before the Cairo derby on Monday against Al Ahly.
"I am so happy with Shikababla's performance. He had a great game against Arab Contractors after coming from the bench and it was logic to give him the chance to start against Smouha." Carteron said after the game.
Shikababla was behind the opening goal in the game when he sent a perfect cross to Achraf Bencharki who put the ball into the back of the net to put his team up in the game.
Zamalek's former winger Mostafa Fathy equalized the score for Smouha two minutes later but Tarek Hamed fired a shot from the edge of the box to take the lead again before half-time.
Both teams had many attempts in the second half but the score did not change and Zamalek secured a vital win before Monday's showdown against Al Ahly in the derby.
Zamalek top the Egyptian League table with 44 points, four points ahead of Al Ahly, who still have two games in hand.
