CAIRO-7 May 2021: Liverpool Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah won the Sporting Inspiration prize at the Laureus World Sports awards, which celebrates the athletes who have huge positive impact on the society.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hailed his team's Egyptian star, saying "He is an even better person than he is a player, then you might be able to imagine what kind of guy he is. So, Mo, to you – well-deserved and congratulations. It's a big one, another big one for you, an individual one."
Salah received the award during a virtual ceremony in Seville and he expressed his happiness in his acceptance speech.
Salah said "Many times football players win awards and automatically thank our fans. This time, I will dedicate this award, not only to my fans, but to all the other sports fans around the world."
Klopp and Salah have been working together at Liverpool since 2017 summer when the German coach signed the Egyptian winger from AS Roma to start a very successful chapter in the club's history.
Salah has been a key player in Klopp's squad that won the UEFA Champions League title in 2019 and managed to achieve the English Premier League title in 2020 for the first time since 1990.
