Abdel Fatah: VAR to be used in the League

CAIRO – 5 July 2017: Essam Abdel Fatah, head of Egyptian referees and board member of Egyptian FA, announced on Tuesday that the VAR (video assistant referee) will be implemented in the Egyptian league.

Speaking to Yallakora, Abdel Fatah said, “We got the approval of the Egyptian television to use the VAR in the league. The use of the VAR will begin starting on July 5.”
Abdel Fatah added, “I hope that this proves successful in order to prevent any future errors in the upcoming matches.”

The VAR was officially used in the last Confederations Cup tournament that was held in Russia from June 17 to July 2 where Germany was crowned champion. The VAR was very decisive in deciding match scores on several occasions.
