Saleh Gomaa Saves the Day for Al Ahly

CAIRO – 4 July 2017: Saleh Gomaa’s late equalizer secured a 1-1 draw for Al Ahly against Al Masry SC in the Egyptian league on July 4 at Borg Al Arab stadium.

Al Ahly and Al Masry started the match looking for a goal in order to put pressure on the other team. Al Masry had several chances that were either saved by Al Ahly goalkeeper Ahmed Adel Abdelmoneim or blocked by AL Ahly’s defense. Towards the end of the first half, Al Ahly started attacking heavily, creating several chances which threatened Al Masry’s defense and goalkeeper. The first half went scoreless, but there were multiple chances from both sides.

Al Masry SC started the second half looking for their first goal which was later scored at the 78th minte by Al Masry striker Mohamed El Shami. Shortly after, Saleh Gomaa saved Al Ahly from receiving their first loss in the season by scoring a goal and ending the match in a 1-1 draw.

Al Ahly secured this season’s league title after their 2-2 draw with Misr El Makasa. They are in first place with 81 points, while Al Masry SC is in fourth with 59 points.
