In a recent statement, Emaar Misr, one of the largest real estate and property developers, issued new regulations banning 17 dog breeds from all its communities. According to the new regulations issued by the group that will be effective as of March 19th, 2021, residents will be allowed to keep certain breeds only for the safety of the residents. The decision has been approved by the group under a statistical review of the number of certain dog breeds owned by residents.
The dog breeds banned include Pitbull, Doberman, American Stradoffshire, Presa Canario, Argentinian Dogo, Cane Corso, Kangal Shepherd, and Caucasian Shepherd. Moreover, the list also includes Mastiff, Boerboel, Bull Terrier, Ridgeback in addition to Bulldog, Boxer, Tosa, Alabai, American Bully, and Rottweiler. The procedures carried out by specialists were able to identify the location and number of dogs that will no longer be allowed.
According to a statement issued by Emaar Misr, this regulation comes within the framework of the company’s concern for the safety of the residents within its communities and that the banned dog breeds pose potential danger and risk. However, a wave of anger sweeps among the residents over a decision that is considered harsh and unjust for dog owners.
The social media platforms witnessed the rise of controversy over the matter, where dog owners expressed their disapproval of the decision which is regarded as being asked to give up a family member or a kid; especially that these dogs are licensed and vaccinated, and accordingly, they pose no harm to other residents within the communities.
