CAIRO – 03 July 2017: On Sunday, July 2, the Ministry of Civil Aviation held a press conference for Shaesta Waiz, who hopes to become youngest civilian female pilot in the world.
Sherif Fathy, Minister of Civil Aviation attended the conference, held in one of the hangars in Cairo International Airport’s landing strip, where Waiz had landed after her last stop in Greece.
Only 29 years old, Waiz plans to become the youngest civilian female pilot. Last May, she began her solo flight called “Dream Soar” in her Beechcraft Bonanza A36 aircraft. She took off from Daytona Beach, Florida and plans to fly a route of almost 26,000 kilometers to over 18 countries, including Greece, Spain, Egypt, Australia and India, before ending the trip back in Florida in August.
, Waiz was born in Afghanistan in a refugee camp. In 1987, along with her family, she escaped the Soviet-Afghani war and moved to the United States. Her solo flight, Dreams Soar, is Waiz achieving her dream of flying after obtaining her pilot’s license from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
