Cairo Governer Eats Feast's Cookies in the opening of (The Family Park) - file photo
CAIRO – 25 June 2017: Cairo governor Atef Abdel Haid opened on Sunday the Family Park in Heliopolis. The park is open to visitors from early morning onwards during Eid al-Fitr, the Islamic feast after the end of holy month of Ramadan.
The opening ceremony was attended by deputy governor for eastern Cairo Ahmed Taimor and the general secretary of Cairo governorate Ahmed El-Sheikh.
The governor was greeted with feast cookies, presented to him and other officials by a young girl, and he mentioned that he liked their taste, Al Ahram reported.
A folkloric band of the Ministry of Culture also performed in the opening ceremony.

Abdel Haid confirmed that the governorate operation room stands ready to cope with any emergencies during Eid al-Fitr, Masrawy reported.
The head of specialized parks Mohamed Sultan presented through a data show the stages of construction and development of the park, according to Veto website.

The area of the Family Park (Hadiket El-Osra) is 33,000 meters. Some developments were made in the park before opening, like installing iron walls, umbrellas, wooden seats, lighting, surveillance cameras, a new watering system with 100 sprays as well as the expansion of green areas.
There is another family park in Cairo in Al-Rehab City on the Suez Road. The 70 fedans park has a cultural and scientific complex, and simulations of the Alexandria Library and Giza Zoo in addition to a theatre, museum and wide green areas.
