Actors, singers and football players are usually the ones who affect the style trends of haircuts and what men wear in Egypt. Hair dressers are keen to offer their customers all-new and trendy hairstyles.

This year’s hairstyle fad in Eid al-Fitr, the three-day celebration following the holy month of Ramadan, in working class areas is drawing shapes on the head, especially for young men and boys.

“The latest trend in 2017 is drawing different shapes on the head like the Batman logo and plant leaves or only decorating the sides of the head,” said Hamo Finnish, a hair dresser in Ard el-Liwa district in Giza governorate.

Drawing shapes on head started to be a trend in Egypt when footballer Mohamed Zidan drew the letter Z on the side of his head. Since then, shaving shapes into men’s hair has grown and expanded to include many other types of designs.
