CAIRO - 20 June 2017: The great harbor mosque known as “Al-Mina Al-Kabir is an Egyptian copy of the Indian mausoleum Taj Mahal and is located in the city of Hurghada near the sea port.
“Al-Mina Al-Kabir” is the largest mosques in the governorate of Red Sea, and is a very important tourist attraction, with its magnificent architecture. Tourism companies in Hurghada organize visits to the mosque as one of the most important Islamic shrines in the city.
The mosque covers an area of 8,000 square meters and was established in 2006, it contains 35 domes and can accommodate up to seven thousand worshipers.
The Mosque of the Grand Harbor is a popular place for foreigners looking to convert to Islam, and conversions often takes place after Friday prayers. The mosque has a special center which receives foreign tourists looking to convert and a culture center with a mobile library and display screens. The culture center also distributes pamphlets for the tourists.
