CAIRO - 20 December 2019: A total of 110 British tourists arrived in Sharm el-Sheikh Thursday aboard the first direct flight from London in four years.
The visitors were welcomed by a team from the British embassy and public relations staff from Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport, who gave the holidaymakers flowers and gifts in celebration of their arrival.
A weekly Interair flight will arrive in the Red Sea resort in the winter, and Toyfly plans to send 10 flights a week in the summer. Other British airlines are scheduling flights the popular destination.
The Egyptian authorities have developed Sharm el-Sheikh airport, as part of strenuous efforts to enhance Egyptian airports in general, in the past four years.
Experts from different countries, including the U.K. visited Egyptian airports to review the security measures and regulations applied, and accordingly several bans have been lifted off Sharm el-Sheikh airport in the past few years.
