China is promising market for Egyptian tourism - minister

BEIJING, Nov 23: Tourism Minister Rania Al Mashat on Friday described China as one of the most promising markets for the Tourism Ministry, noting the ministry launches a new phase of tourism relations between Cairo and Beijing.

Al-Mashat's remarks came during a ceremony hosted by Egypt's Ambassador to China Mohamed El Badry at the Egyptian Embassy here.

The ministry pays great attention to the Chinese tourists who seek to adventure and discovery in terms of Egypt's various tourist potentials, the minister noted.

Chinese tourists flock to Egypt from different cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Tianjin and others.

The Egyptian authorities are negotiating with the Chinese counterparts to operate a direct flight route with Shanghai, the minister revealed.

To boost the number of Chinese tourists, the ministry created a partnership with C-Trip travel agency to promote Egyptian tourism in China.

Mashat is currently visiting Beijing to attend Bloomberg's New Economy Forum.
