Large number of tourists rides horses in Hurghada
CAIRO – 6 August 2019:In the northern part of Hurghada, specifically on the middle ring road, two young people from Fayoum governorate established a stable of horses 3 years ago to organize tourist trips for horse lovers on the Red Sea coast and mountainous areas.
The owners of the stable Mohamed Atteya and Hamada Gamal told Egypt Today on Tuesday that most hotels have a small horse stable that is used by hotel guests only; hence the idea of establishing an external stable where tour operators organize trips came to their heads.
Atteya clarified that he has 53 horses of different types: English, Arab, native and Palestinian.
Atteya said that tourists, especially Germans, are usually interested in riding horses on the beach and in mountainous areas, adding that trips are organized from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the summer.
The whole idea came to us when we were showering our horses on the beach and suddenly tourists gathered in big numbers to ride horses, he explained.
"Many foreigners, especially those who reside in Hurghada, come to the stable to learn how to ride horses and thenbuy their own horses," Gamal said.
Gamal also stressed that the Arabian horse is the most sought after for desert trips, while some prefer the English horse for its physical strength.
