Cairo, Egypt: March 19, 2019 – Avon, the company for women, has partnered with Entreprenelle, a social development and business impact organization that aims to empower local women, as the main sponsor of the SHE CAN event taking place on March 8 in honor of International Women’s Day.
SHE CAN is the leading women entrepreneurship event in Egypt – and coming soon to the MENA region – with a mission to empower society by enhancing the women’s entrepreneurship skills by connecting them to businesses across Egypt. This year, the event will be held under the theme Successful Failures in a series of talks, panel discussions, mentoring sessions, pitching competitions, recruitment opportunities and exhibition and child care services. High profile businesswomen and businessmen will discuss topics such as challenging norms, learning from failure, and entrepreneurship taboos.
Avon’s sponsorship of and participation in the SHE CAN event coincides with the launch of the company’s global stand4her initiative, a global plan to tackle some of the greatest barriers that are holding women back from achieving their full potential.
The multi-faceted initiative was developed in response to new research commissioned by Avon with input from Oxford Economics which shows that despite the global increase in flexible working patterns, women still feel they are held back from running their own businesses. The stand4Her global plan includes several dynamic and multi-faceted components including the Avon Fair for Her Programme, the Avon Foundation for Women Scholarship Programme, The Avon Breast Cancer Promise, The Avon Promise to Help End Violence Against Women and Girls, and Avon’s Global Women’s Employee Strategy. As part of the stand4her campaign, Avon will launch a beauty pack to support the campaign. For every pack sold, the Avon Foundation will make a donation to a new Freedom Fund to help women across the globe access learning and development opportunities to achieve their potential.
“Around the world, millions of girls are still unable to fulfil their dreams due to economic, social and political barriers. Yet, despite this difficult reality, many are breaking down boundaries, shattering stereotypes and standing up for their causes,” said Barbara Castioni, Marketing & Sales Support Avon Egypt & Business Integration Manager, Avon Egypt and Saudi Arabia. “At Avon, our plan is to create a better world by positively impacting the lives of 1 million women every year by advancing their earning potential through the power of beauty, and their ability to live a safe and healthy life. By partnering with organizations such as Entreprenelle to support important events like SHE CAN, we’re all one step closer to helping empower women right here in our own community.”
With a shared mission and vision, Avon and Entreprenelle are partnering on SHE CAN to provide women with support to network with business people, and gain knowledge and awareness of the players in the entrepreneurship ecosystem, as well as opportunities and capital sources.
Avon is also participating in the event with talks by Mohamed Farouk, Avon Country Manager for Egypt and KSA; Lucy Moufarreg, Area Sales Manager, as well as two Avon Area Sales Manager and Divisional Sales Manager who will share their stories and how the company helped empower them to take control of their lives and provided them with a financial earning opportunity.
Avon has a strong record of supporting women empowerment in Egypt. Annually, Avon Egypt provides thousands of women of every social strata with a reliable and supported earning opportunity as Sales Representatives, regardless of their status or education, empowering them to achieve their targets no matter how big or small. On top of the daily commitment, last year Avon launched a sponsorship deal with the Gazelle Rally team lead by Yara Shalaby in addition to the company’s sponsorship with the Transforma Rugby team for Girls. Avon Egypt has also established a strategic alliance with Pink Taxi, founded by entrepreneur Reem Fawzy, which is an online taxi service dependent solely on female drivers to empower women to access the tourism sector as in Egyptian market.
With millions of Independent Sales Representatives, and one of the biggest corporate supporters focused on female causes, Avon is more than a beauty company – it’s a global network of women. Since 1886, Avon has been empowering women to live on their own terms by offering them an alternative to achieve economic independence at a time where they were not even able to vote in most of the countries. SHE CAN and stand4her is another step in the company’s mission of inspiring and creating a world with more empowered women.
