CAIRO - 5 June 2017: The Italian community in Sharm el-Sheikh organized a Saturday Ramadan iftar at an Italian restaurant in the Old Town as Italian tourists head back to Egypt.
The event was at an Italian restaurant, was attended by representatives from Balcan Express,Veneto Viaggi Vacanze, Shores Golden and Aloha Group, Travco, and Pierpaulo Baldasi, the founder of the Italian Association of Sharm el-Sheikh, and members of the Italian community.
Italian tour operators will begin flights from many Italian cities to Sharm el-Sheikh next July, said Mario Torizan, representative of Balkan Express.
Twelve flights per week will fly to Egyptian resorts in response to increasing demand in July, August and September, as Sharm el-Sheikh has “no alternative” for Italians at the level of service, hotels, entertainment, weather, and prices, said Andrea Veneto of Veneto Viaggi Vacanze.
Meanwhile, the international airport of Marsa Matrouh received the first charter flight coming from Rome, carrying 116 Italian tourists on board May 30.
Representatives from the Tourism Ministry in Marsa Matrouh received the tourists with flowers and handed them guides about the most important tourist attractions in the city, the North Coast, and Siwa Oasis, which is 300 kilometers southwest of Marsa Matrouh.
Governor Alaa Abou Zeid said the number of charter flights from Italy will steadily increase until October, adding that Marsa Matrouh provides a diversity of activities, such as safari, beaches, diving, and archeological and therapeutic tourism.
