Egypt to arrange sightseeing tours for African Cup teams, delegations

CAIRO – 8 January 2019: After stripping Cameroon from hosting Africa Cup of Nations (CAF), the host of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations was chosen on Jan. 8, 2019 in Dakar, Senegal when Egypt won the bid.

The Tourism committee in the Egyptian House of Representatives declared that Egypt is safe to host any major international event, and is also safe as a touristic destination.

In addition, a member of the Egyptian House of Representatives requested both the Ministries of Antiquities and Tourism to arrange a touristic program for the visiting teams and expeditions during the tournament.

A number of members of the Tourism Committee in the House of Representatives confirmed that Egypt's victory in organizing the 2019 African Nations Cup reflects a certificate of international confidence in the country's security and stability, pointing out that the stability existing in Egypt has played a major role in winning the honor of organizing a big event such as the African Cup of Nations.

Mohamed Abdu, member of the touristic committee in the House of Representatives declared to YOUM7 that organizing the CAF in Egypt is considered a huge event, and that Egypt happily welcomes all the African expeditions. Abdu declared that such an event has a positive impact in reviving the Egyptian tourism sector.

Abdu further requested both the Ministries of Antiquities and Tourism to set a touristic and entertainment program for the visiting expeditions to visit touristic hot spots in Egypt such as the Pyramids in Giza, Grand Egyptian Museum and other historical mosques in Cairo.

The MP further stated that the Ministry of Antiquities, Tourism and Interior should cooperate together in preparation for the big event, and to clear and secure the paths for the visiting teams while they visit the country.

Hayam Halawa, a member of the Tourism Committee in the House of Representatives explained that the government should put in place a complete plan to organize a tournament worthy of the name of Egypt, where the institutions of the state and the people must unite to prepare for this event.

"We will organize a wonderful and decent welcoming for all participating teams, and we should exploit this event economically and tourism."
