Swiss tourist takes 6,000 photos for 100 archaeological sites rarely visited by tourists

CAIRO - 20 December 2018: "Everyday, I post a photo or a video for a cemetery, a museum or an archaeological site that tourists have not visited to promote for these places," a 47-year Swiss tourist who decided to live in Luxor, Egypt.

Ryan Beck's visit to Egypt in 2000 was a turning point inhis life as he decided to leave his country and live in Luxor to dig more into Egypt's marvelous monuments and unique archaeological sites. So far, he has taken around 6,000 photos for more than 100 archaeological sites and Pharaonic tombs, monuments and temples across Egypt, which are rarely visited by tourists.

"I decided to promote for archaeological sites in Egypt, which are rarely visited by tourists," Beck remarked.

Currently, Beck lives in a two-story house in Luxor with his mother and the other members of his family are expected to come and live in Egypt in the coming period.

He has participated in several exhibitions in Luxor and Aswan where he presented these photos, and he plans to organize exhibitions for children and youth in schools and universities across Egypt.

Also, Egypt has been announced as the fastest growing tourist destination in terms of year-on-year percentage increase of visitors, according to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)’s 2018 release on global travel and tourism.

The annual report showed that Egypt welcomed about 8.5 million tourists during 2017 with a 55.1 percent increase, compared to the same period of 2016.

Luxor and Giza were on top of Egypt’s most famous and well-known cities for tourists, according to the report.
