EgyptAir to operate direct flights from Sphinx Airport
CAIRO – 19 December 2018: Egypt’s flag carrier airline EgyptAir decided to operate internal flights for the first time from Sphinx International Airport located on the Cairo-Alexandria desert road during the period of the Half-year vacation, specifically from January 25 -February 9.
Minister of Aviation Younis al-Masri said in a statement that the political leadership is very concerned with the opening of such airports as they contribute to the development of the infrastructure.
The airports in different countries of the world play an essential role in attracting direct economic and investment activities, Masri said, adding that the opening of this airport currently aims to relieve the pressure on Cairo International Airport.
EgyptAir is scheduled to operate about 15 flights a week to serve the internal movement during the half-year vacation in Egypt. Flights are set to head from Sphinx Airport to Luxor, Aswan, Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada and vice versa.
