CAIRO – 25 April 2017: All museums and archaeological sites will be open for free on Tuesday for Egyptians and Arabs living in Egypt in honor of the 35th anniversary of the liberation of Sinai, Minister of Antiquities Khalid Hanafy said Monday.
Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan announced that Tuesday, April 25 would be an official holiday for both public and private sector workers.
Sinai Liberation Day is celebrated in Egypt on April 25 every year, corresponding with Israel's withdrawal from the Sinai Peninsula following its defeat in the 1973 War and the signing of Camp David Accords.
All museums and archeological sites will also be open free of charge for both Egyptians and non-Egyptians during working hours on June 30 this year, in honor of the fourth anniversary of the June 30 Revolution, per a declaration by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail.
