CAIRO – 20 January 2018: Giovanna Temellini, creator of Milan-based fashion line Temellini Milano, has created a special line of clothing for dogs. Dog-a-Porter offers custom fit clothing for different breeds of dogs, including Chihuahuas all the way up to greyhounds. The line includes clothing mostly for the cold winter months, such as cashmere knits, nylon bomber jackets and capes and raincoats.
The prices of the pieces are just as extravagant as the idea itself. The capes cost $208 and synthetically filled hooded parkas cost $256. In Italy especially there is a market for such expenses. There are 7 million dogs in Italy, and according to ASSALCO, Italians are spending 10 percent more on their dogs now than they were in 2013.
Giovanna Temellini says that the concept isn’t just a luxury; it has a practical purpose as well. Her clothing line protects dogs from rain and the cold when they go outside, especially if they are house dogs and not used it to. She is also very careful to take into account the movement possible in her clothes; she does not want to constrict dogs in their everyday lives.
The styles available for dogs even have coordinating options for their owners. The line also has the option to custom tailor pieces for your dog, to suit them perfectly.
